Bowl Theory

20120908-233509.jpg I keep a candy bowl on my desk in my office. The bowl is regularly filled with all sorts of candy: Jolly Ranchers, Peppermints and other mints. Usually I am the one who fills the bowl but I also have friends and colleagues who place candy in the bowl for others. As I have been doing this for some time, I have noticed a trend. Those who give me candy to share with others are those who also share a similar income bracket as I. Those who take from the bowl, on the other hand, tend to be those from a higher income bracket. Perhaps saving on candy is what allows them to amass wealth while we who share are not as fortunate? I’m not going to stop it from happening but interesting to watch this sociology test work right before my eyes. It could be said that this is a microcosm for what is going on in our society. I digress.
